Food Market
Starting with a single cell this project explores span and repetition of cells to create a shelter for a Food Market. At strategic points the roof structure stretches down to the ground to create structural and non-structural columns to activate the space. Some of the larger columns collect rain water and are used as water tanks for the market, while others are filled with soil and inhabits plants and trees. These columns are larger on the main street whereas the back of the structure becomes more dense with the increase of the number of columns. Market stalls follow the language of the roof structure and are located under the openings of the roof structure. The middle column facing the main street is carved as a staircase to give access both to mezzanine level, where the cafe is located , as well as to go up to the roof structure.
